Usually of 11 days, the Sikkim Village to Village Trek originates from Pelling and passes through several magnificent villages within its duration. Hiking through the several villages, interaction with the locals, staying with them and sharing their lifestyle for these few days will offer you the peace and tranquillity that you have been seeking for long! Itinerary
After you arrive at the Bagdogra Airport, you will be received by your expert guides and driven to Pelling. Throughout this long drive, you can enjoy the amazing and picturesque views of Sikkim and feast your eyes on its various splendours. Arriving in Pelling, check in into a local homestay and enjoy Sikkimese hospitality for the day.
The day will give you a quick and brief insight of Sikkim’s rich and traditional beliefs! Begin the day with a delicious breakfast at the homestay and make yourself acclimatised with the climate. Post this, embark on a delightful hike around Pelling for around 4-5 hours. While hiking, you will be visiting some of the sacred monasteries in and around Pelling. To name a few, you will be visiting Pemayangtshe and Sangacholin Monasteries along with the Rabdentshe Palace Ruins. Completing this hike, trek back to the homestay for an overnight stay.
The trek will begin today and will take you towards one of the most gorgeous village in Sikkim – Darap Village, which is the home to several indigenous tribes and different cultures. After arriving in the village, walk around and explore its gorgeousness before you retire for the day in a local homestay.
With today’s trek from Darap Village, you will be gaining some more height and reach another quiet and sleepy village called Khechupelri. Home to the mystique Khechupelri Lake, this village is considered as a sacred destination among the Sikkimese. People usually visit the Khechupelri Lake to make wishes; legends has it that the lake fulfils wishes made by the devotees.
The day will be spent on total leisure; however, by afternoon, you can take a short trek to the spiritual caves in Khechupelri and discover the sanctity of the region. By the latter part of the day, you can also visit the Khechupelri View Point and catch wonderful views of the vicinity.
Starting from Khechupelri, you will be descending downwards and will lose some height today on your way to Yuksom. Upon completion of this exhilarating trek and your arrival in Yuksom, relax and rejuvenate for a while before you visit the quaint villages of the Lepcha Community. Known as the indigenous people of Sikkim, the Lepcha people are also found in Bhutan, Tibet, Darjeeling and some parts of Nepal; overnight stay will be in a local homestay.
In the morning, enjoy a delicious breakfast in the homestay and get started with a short local sightseeing tour of Yuksom. During the early part of the day, visit the sacred Dubdi Monastery, Coronation Throne and the wonderful Karthok Lake. During evening, take time to visit and explore some of the nearby villages and discover the many grandeurs and diverse heritage of these villages.
Gaining some height today, you will be trekking to the Hongri settlements. The trek will be a short and pleasant one, and will take you through dense and verdant forests, scenic trails, amazing terrains and mot more. Arriving in the village, take some rest in a local homestay and visit the Hongri and Simon Monasteries that are hidden away from the human settlements. While in this villages, you will be once again, witness the life and cultures of the Indigenous Lepcha tribe; overnight will be in a homestay.
Today’s downhill trek will take you to Labdang, the indigenous home of the Gurung ethnic groups of Sikkim. The trek will be a bit long and will offer an astounding opportunity to get closer to the countryside of Sikkim and the rustic lifestyles of the locals.
Along with the morning, start trekking from Labdang and hike towards a gorgeous hilltop village called Tashiding. Known to be one of the most beautiful villages in Sikkim, Tashiding is also an important pilgrimage centre. Devotees from different corners of the world usually visits the Tashiding Monastery and seek the blessings of the Gods in order to cleanse their souls; spend the night in a local homestay or in a camp
On this very last day of the Sikkim Village to Village trek, you will be dropped either at the Bagdogra Airport or NJP Railway Station. From here, you will be free to travel to your onward or next destination.
