A 17th-century marvel perched at an elevation of 10,000ft, this sacred monastery is the largest in the Himalayan region. Also known as the ‘Galden Namgyal Lhatse’ (meaning ‘celestial paradise in a clear night’ in the local language), it overlooks the captivating Tawang and never fails to amaze the visitors.

Once you make your way into the monastery, you will be awed by the eight-meter-high gilded statue of Buddha, an imposing yet serene figure that commands the central prayer hall.
