As soon as you arrive at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, our representative will transfer you to Shillong. Nicknamed the ‘Scotland of the East,’ Shillong is an emerging and beautiful hill station at 4500-4960 meters. During your transport to Shillong, you should take a break at one of the largest lakes in Meghalaya, known as Umium Lake. This superb and calm lake, located in the green-hilly region, is an ideal place to go and watch how beautiful the world is. It is one of the most popular sites for photography and walking because of the calm water and the views.
Once you get to Shillong, you should check into your hotel and relax. The remainder of the day is all yours, and you can choose to go out and discover the city or unwind at your hotel. In other circumstances, walking around the colorful markets or going to the neighboring cafes to feel the region’s atmosphere is possible. Overnight stay at Shillong.
Following a hearty breakfast at the hotel, proceed for a full-day trip to Cherapunji, which stands at an altitude of 4400ft. Famously known as one of the wettest on earth, the place is famous for its heavy rainfall during monsoon. Your first destination will be the beautiful and majestic Nohkalikai Falls, the highest plunge waterfall in India. One has to see the stream coming from a cliff and falling to a deep green valley; it can be stunning, and the photographers will have plenty of great shots.
Subsequently, visit the equally interesting Mawsmai Caves. These huge limestone caves are well-lit and offer visitors a peep into the mysterious buff-clad caves with hanging and growing features of stalactites and stalagmites, respectively. These caves are significant as the magnificent geological structures in that region.
On your way back to Shillong, another tourist spot you can check out is the Elephanta Falls, a three-tiered waterfall ensconced amidst so much greenery. Proceed to Shillong Peak, which is the highest point in Shillong. From there, you can see the beauty of Shillong and the fascinating views of the outskirts. The stunning views offer a spectacular view to end your day of touring. Return to the hotel for some rest and spend the night there.
After an early breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion to Dawki, a small town in Meghalaya located very close to the border of Bangladesh. Dawki is also well-known for the immaculate Umangot River. One can witness the riverside beauty and get a boat ride in the clean river. It is among the cleanest rivers, and you can see the bottom of the river and colorful fish swimming beside the boat.
From Dawki, head to Mawlynnong, the “Cleanest Village in Asia.” This beautiful village is famous for its cleanliness and sustainable environmental conservation.
