So, tourists need to cross a bridge over the river to reach this temple which is one thrilling experience you must have.

Since 1952, it has served as a government’s seat and even today it has king’s offices and throne room. The Dzong is one of the most popular and oldest landmarks of the country. Standing at the banks of Wangchhu River, it was built and rebuilt by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in 1641 and Third King of Bhutan Jigme Dorji Wangchuck in 1965 respectively. After that take a short and easy hike to visit the Chhimi Lhakhang – The Temple, also known as “The Temple of Fertility” was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, “The Divine Mad man”. The temple is known for blessing childless couples with children. It’s a place of high beliefs. Tourists from around the world flock to the temple in order to witness the unusual ceremonies that take place here. The monastery is built in the ancient Thai structure, adorned with beautiful paintings and carvings of phalluses on its wall.

The visit to this place concludes your time in Punakha. Now its time for you to explore a new place. Have your lunch and start your drive to Paro (7483 ft.). On arrival check in at the hotel. During the bygone ages, it also served as a prison for enemy soldiers and house for soldiers serving the homeland. The Dzong was open to the public after it underwent renovation in 1968. Following this is Rinpung Dzong or the Fortress on a heap of Jewels which is the administrative seat of the district of Paro. Formerly a meeting hall, today it serves as a house to government offices and district courts. Being a significant monastic body, the dzong enjoys a good footfall. Though many chapels are restricted for tourists’ entrance, this place is a must visit for its remarkable architecture.

Next, stop somewhere for lunch and as you are done make a quick move to Drukgyel Dzong. It was destroyed by fire in 1951 and is now preserved as a heritage site. With gigantic mountain views in the backdrop, this site is perfect for travel photographers. The ruins of this Dzong make the site look all the more rustic and picturesque. The last on today’s list is Kyichu Lhakhang, one of the oldest Buddist temples in Bhutan. The temple is said to have probably built by King Songtsen Gampo of Tibet in 659. After a peaceful visit to the Monastery, take a mole towards Takin Preserve Centre. While you are here, you’ll spot Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. You next and the last destination for the day would be Tashichho Dzong (Fortress of the Glorious Religion). One of the biggest landmarks in the city, it finds itself 2 km away from Thimphu. This is the building which acquires the Throne and other offices of the King. Apart from this, it also is the summer residence of the monk body.

It’s your third day in Bhutan and the day calls for some good exploration. Grab a good amount of breakfast, buckle up your shoes and make a move towards Simtokha Dzong. This Bhutanese attraction has a legend behind its existence. It is said that the dzong was built to control an evil spirit which was supposedly troubling the travellers in the area. So, yes your day has an adventurous start as you’ll travel to a place which literally means “Atop a Demon.”
The next location for the day is Jungshi Handmade paper factory. Here you’ll learn about the methods of producing Deh-Sho, the traditional Bhutanese paper. Visitors are allowed to see the age-old methods that locals have been using in processing this paper. If given a chance to take part in the process, please do and create some souvenir for yourself. After trying your hands on creativity make your way to other attractions like Drupthob Lhakhang and many more.
Now, the day comes to an end, move back to your hotel for an overnight stay at Thimphu.

Start your day with heavy breakfast as the day calls for a lot of travelling. Today you’ll be heading towards Punakha/Wangdue while taking a pit stop at Dochu-La-Pass (3150 mts.) in between. The spot gives you some spectacular Himalayan views, hence the place is worth stopping at. Now, resume your journey towards Punakha Dzong which was built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. It served as the Government seat for years until the second king came into power. The Dzong was previously named as Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang which also means the Palace of Great Happiness. After you are done with exploring the Dzong take a short hike towards Chhimi Lhakhang or the Temple of Fertility. The temple was built by the ‘divine Madman,’ Lama Drukpa Kuenley. It is one of the most renowned religious places in Bhutan and is frequently visited by several devotees. Travellers from around the world flock here to witness the unusual cultural and traditional ceremonies. If you are lucky enough, you can be a spectator to some too.

Today we’ll be moving towards Paro, yet another beautiful gem in Bhutan. Have your breakfast, transfer your baggage to the car and you are all set to travel to your next destination i.e. Paro (7483 ft.). On your way visit Tamchog Lhakhang which is situated between Thimphu and Paro. It was built in the 13th century by Thangthong Gyalpo who is also known as the Iron bridge builder. Located atop the hill, you need to cross an ancient architectural styled bridge to reach this temple. Crossing the years old chain bridge and its undulating movements is indeed an undulating experience. The river beneath looks no less magnificent as the hills around. After this continue your journey to Paro. On reaching Paro, check in at your hotel, rest for some time and then head out for Ta Dzong – National Museum, having an excellent collection of relics, arts and religious thangkha, etc. You cannot take cameras inside the museum but can click its structure and surroundings from outside. Up next is Rinpung Dzong also known as the “fortress of the heap of jewels”. Today it serves as the judicial and administrative seat of Paro. You are now done for the day. It’s time to head back to your hotel for an overnight stay in Paro.

Today is officially the last night in Bhutan. Leaving behind the laziness, get ready, have your delicious breakfast and leave for the very famous Taktsang Monastery – called “Tiger’s Nest” (2hrs hike from the base camp). One of the most picturesque monasteries in the world, this monastery is where ‘Second Buddha’ or Guru Riponche is believed to have meditated in order to subdue his inner demons. Legend states that he flew to the cave while sitting on the back of a tigress. Not only does the monastery has a great history but it also offers some astounding views of the surrounding valleys.

Chorten, meaning the Seat of Faith is a gorgeous work of architecture. Representing the World Peace, it was built as a memorial for Third Druk Gyalpo. Have your lunch and make a move to Sangaygang View Point which is the BBS Tower/ Bhutanese Broadcasting Service Tower. Built atop the hill, the tower offers the best views of the city. From a very short distance to BBS is Takin Preserve Centre which is mainly visited to witness the oddball mammals. Following this, visit Changangkha Monastery. It is open for travellers in the summer months when the monk’s body moves to Thimphu and during the Punakha festival. After you are done exploring the Dzong, take a quick hike to Chhimi Lhakhang, the Temple of Fertility which was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley also known as the ‘Divine MadMan.’ With this exploration, the day comes to an end. After having mouth-watering breakfast you will start your traverse from Taktsang Monastery, aka ‘Tiger’s Nest’, where you need to hike for about 2 hours to reach the holy place. The fabulous scenery on the way and the joyous destination is worth trekking in the mountainous region. Followed by Kyichu Monastery, you will pay your visit to one of the oldest and most beautiful monasteries of the country which was built in 659 in order to protect the Buddhist religion from a giant ogress.

As the night arrives, you will come back to the hotel and unwind yourself while spending the night in the cosy hotel room.

Wake up at an early hour in the morning because, today, you will witness the spectacular view of the Himalayan range from a great height. After a 2-hours of driving, you will leave for Chele-La-Pass which is a surreal point where people arrive by trekking, biking, or on cars to experience the freezing weather and snow-covered mountain peaks from an altitude of 3810 meters. Moreover, this is the highest motorable road in the country with a matchless landscape view where a number of people pay their calls just to capture indelible memories and quintessential travel photos.

As you are done soaking yourself into the stupendous scenery of the Himalayan range, you will be brought back to the hotel room to rejuvenate. This district, resting at a height of 2350 meters above sea level, is also famous as the largest city of the country where tourists come across the juxtaposition of ancient tradition and modern lifestyle. Start the morning of the third day of your expedition with cold weather and hot piping breakfast that will be served right at your hotel room. As the day is all about sightseeing in Thimpu, the first stop would be Kuensel Phodrang, one of the most prominent destinations to visit in Bhutan because of its photogenic surrounding and the gigantic statue of Lord Buddha. Followed by a glorious monument, National Memorial Chorten would be your next destination where you can pray with all your heart and attract spiritual energy into your mind and soul. Finally, there is the Folk Heritage Museum where you can connect with the brilliant Bhutanese culture, rural history, and rich heritage through precious demonstrations, exhibits, and documentaries based on the rural lifestyle of the country.

After half of the day passes visiting magnificent sites of the capital region, you would be ready to travel across the spiral roads encircled with tall lush greenery to reach Paro where the elegance of nature and traditional-style houses are seen as the real gems. The fourth day would be the busiest day of your trip to Bhutan as it is going to be all about exploring the speciality of the place.

Have your mouth-watering breakfast and start your day by visiting Ta Dzong which is approximately four and a half centuries old and still stands as a pride of the religion even after suffering a major earthquake in 2011. Visit this place and you will come across the priceless collection of Bhutanese antiquities. Next, there is Rinpung Dzong, also known as Paro Dzong, with the matchless spiritual environment as it has the required splendour and peace that can rejuvenate the mind. Besides, this Dzong is also referred to as the seat of the administration of the Paro district. Subsequently, you will be visiting the great Drukgyel Dzong which is recognized as one of the must-visit places on earth by UNESCO World Heritage Center. The Dzong served as the defence of the region since the day it was constructed till 1951 when it was brutally destroyed by a massive fire. However, the ruins of the premises speak everything about its history and heritage. Lastly, there is Kyichu Lhakhang which is Bhutan’s oldest temple that was constructed in 659 with the purpose of pinning down the foot of a monster who was restricting the establishment of Buddhist religion in Tibet.

As this hectic and most pleasant come to an end, you will be taken back to your hotel where you can rest throughout the night after having scrumptious dinner.

It is the fifth day of your tour and today is all about soaking into the serene environment of the country as you will be going back to your starting point, Phuentsholing. After having breakfast, check out of the hotel, take your bags and belongings with you, and indulge in a 7-hour long drive. As all your energy will drain due to all the travelling, there will be nothing left to explore the place. Nonetheless, you can always pay your call at the local market to buy souvenirs for your loved ones. By the time the sun goes down, you can come back to the hotel and spend the night relaxing and thinking about your way back to the daily routine.

It is the last day and it is time to go back to your normal life. As the third day of your expedition begins, you will be served delectable morning meal. Afterwards, you will be taken to majestic location Kuensel Phodrang which is renowned for a gigantic statue of Lord Buddha. People from different place arrive Thimphu just to pray at this blessed place. The next stop of the day would be National Memorial Chorten, a prominent monument in Thimphu and a daily place of worship for locals, followed by Folk Heritage Museum that will represent you the insights of Buddhist traditions and culture.

While passing through this magnificent place, you must pay your call at Druk Wangyal Khangzang Chortens which is an astoundingly beautiful site because here you will find 108 Chortens or stupas.

While you arrive at charming land of Punakha or Wangdue which are located at an altitude of 4298 ft, you will spend the night at a stunning hotel with amazing aura.

It is the fourth day of your tour and also the most wonderful of all because today you will visit a few places where you can create many unforgettable memories. Have your scrumptious breakfast at the hotel and explore this exquisite site. Also, do not forget to take your bags with you because you would not be coming back to the hotel to pick them up.

So, the first destination of the day would be Punakha Dzong which is the most spectacular Dzong of the country without any doubt. Known as the second Dzong built in Bhutan, this Dzong served as the seat of the government until 1952 and was originally known as Druk Phungthang Dechen Phodrang that literally means the ‘Palace of great happiness’. Later, you will visit the splendid location Chhimi Lhakhang, the most famous temple of Bhutan, that was constructed by the ‘divine madman’, Lama Drukpa Kuenley. After covering a small distance via trekking, you will arrive at the Lhakhang, known as the ‘Fertility temple’, where many childless couples visit and tourists from across the world arrive just to witness the unusual ceremonies and traditions performed here.

By the noon time, you will leave this picturesque location and move to Paro, the site with glorious history, sacred locations, and verdant valley. Post a long drive of 5 long hours, check in at the retreat, have appetizing dinner and relax till the next morning.

This is the fifth and second last day of your trip and you should make the best out of it. Have you mouth-watering breakfast and get energized because today everything would be about sightseeing. Commence your expedition with Ta Dzong was built in 1649 with a purpose to protect the Dzong. This place is also called the National Museum of Bhutan because it holds many idiosyncratic artefacts and structures that are associated with Bhutanese culture. Subsequently, you will pay your visit to Rinpung Dzong or Paro Dzong that has very spiritual importance in the lives of locals. Moreover, this Dzong is also the seat for the administration of the district which makes it even more special place to be visited.

During midday, you will be taken to another striking Dzong, Drukgyel Dzong, which is recognized as one of the most wonderful sites by UNESCO World Heritage Center. After you cover the 176 km through a long drive of 6 hours, you will be allotted a mesmerizing hotel that will offer a majestic view of the heart of Bhutan. Moreover, for the rest of the day, you can refresh overnight and prepare yourself from the awaiting adventure.

The third day would be the most exciting one because today you will get to see the beautiful side of Bhutan as you visit various tourist spots. Have your delectable breakfast at the hotel after which you will be taken to amazing places of Thimphu. The first destination of the day would be Kuensel Phodrang, also referred to as Buddha Point, is a resting place of a giant Shakyamuni Buddha Statue amidst mountain beauty. The next stop would be National Memorial Chorten where you will be fascinated by the traditional Tibetan architecture. After that, you will be taken to Folk Heritage Museum that replicates a traditional farmhouse because it is made with timber and is furnished just like it used to be centuries back.

Besides Folk Heritage Museum, you will visit Sangaygang View Point which can be described as a picture perfect location because of the scenic beauty, Changangkha Monastery which was established in the 12th century with certain traditional values as it is the place where parents pay their call to take away the auspicious blessings for their newborns, and Takin Preserve Centre that is home to exotic species of animals including the national animal of Bhutan. In the middle of your way to Paro, you can visit Tamchog Lhakhang which is standing proudly since the 13th century as a wonderful creation of the Iron Bridge Builder, Saint Thangthong Gyalpo. Moreover, to reach the temple, tourists need to cross the iron bridge made in the ancient architectural style that will give you a thrilling experience and an outstanding view of the hills. As the fifth day begins, you will be served scrumptious breakfast after which you will be heading towards hiking at Taktsang Monastery. Hiking into the gorgeous beauty of mountains to reach this Tiger’s Nest is the must-do activity that should be in every traveller’s bucket list, especially if you are travelling at this paradise for the first time. Besides Taktsang Monastery, you must visit Drukgyel Dzong which recognized as one of the most amazing archaeological sites by UNESCO World Heritage Center. Apart from being the fortress, this glorious place used to be a magnificent Buddhist Monastery. Nonetheless, the ruins of the place justify beautiful history which is one of the oldest monasteries of the country where locals arrive to attract blessings, especially for their wedding.

By the evening, you will be brought back to the hotel where you can de-stress yourself and pack your stuff because tomorrow you have to leave to catch your flight on time.

Have your breakfast at the hotel and set your luggage in the vehicle as you have to go back to your daily routine. On the way to Paro Airport, recollect all the memories and soak into the beauty of Bhutan for the last time.

Our representative will welcome you at the Paro International Airport and accompany you to your hotel in Thimphu. The road trip to Thimphu is 1 hour 17 minutes (50.8 km) long and the journey is so beautiful that you will not get a chance to hide away your camera.

Upon your arrival at the hotel, complete your check-in process and then head out to take a tour of the city. Your first destination for the day will be the Trashi Chho Dzong. The Dzong is a grand fort that is also a venue for the country’s biggest annual festival, Tsechu. A fact about the place is that the Dzong has been destroyed in a fire almost five times till date. It still is an architectural marvel and a must-visit place of Thimphu.

Before heading to the hotel you can take a walk around the city and explore the culture and interact with locals in your leisure time. Post that, head back to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

After filling up your tummy at the hotel, you can leave for the city tour. Your first destination for the day will be the Tango Goemba.

This is a Buddhist site in the city and has been recently renovated in 2016. The place is a centre for Buddhist studies and to reach the place you would have to trek uphill for about forty-five minutes. The highlights of the place are its chapels, meditation cave and living quarters. One can also witness a crystal that was brought here from Tibet.

The next destination in the city is the Motithang Takin Preserve. If you want to observe the National Animal of Bhutan, then this is the perfect place to be at. The most memorable part of this visit is when the animals gather around the fences to eat. You can click amazing pictures of them and observe them closely.

Your last tourist attraction is the National Folk Heritage Museum. The museum gives you a glimpse of Bhutanese traditional lifestyle and heritage. A fun fact is that the artefacts of the museum transform seasonally, so every time you visit, you will get to see something different.

Welcome to your first road trip to Wangdue, 1 hour 52 minutes (70.2 km) away. So, make sure you have an early and healthy breakfast at the hotel and kick start with your journey.

Once you have reached Wangdue and completed your check-in formalities, you can right away start with the sightseeing. The first destination you will be visiting is Jigme Singye Wangchuk National Park. The national park is the largest protected area in Bhutan and is a haven for migratory birds. It also houses a number of animals and plants. Some of which include the Red Panda, Snow Leopard, Black Bear, Blue Sheep, and Takin. Spend a day here and be close to nature and relax to forget all the hustle bustle of your daily routine.

Post that, head back to your hotel for dinner and a good night’s sleep.

On your third day, you will travel to Punakha, which is 2 hours 26 minutes (84.9 km) away from Thimphu. So have a healthy breakfast at the hotel and get ready for the road trip.

Before your arrival at the hotel in Punakha, you will be visiting the Dochula Pass. The road from Thimphu to the Punakha is marked by the Dochula Pass. The pass is located at a height of 3100 metres and the pass from that height offers the scenic views of valleys on both sides. It also overlooks the site of the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. Also, you will get the view of The Gangkar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest mountain peak.

After the short visit to the Pass, you can continue your trip to your hotel in Punakha and after completing your check-in formalities, have dinner and catch up on some rest.

After your breakfast routine at the hotel, you can continue with your city tour. The first destination for the day is Mo Chhu. Mo Chhu is an extremely important river in Bhutan. The river passes into the Mo Chhu valley and then into the Devil’s Gorge, where river rafting and kayaking activities are conducted.

Your next place of attraction is Koma Tsachu. These water springs are a two-hour hike uphill and are located inside the Jigme Dorji National Park. There are four bathing pools here and each of them is housed in different rooms with complete solar lighting, mats and tents. They say these hot water springs are supposed to have therapeutic value.

Your last destination of the day is Ritsha. The place is a small Bhutanese village and is known for its unique techniques of growing rice. It is also called out for its brilliant architecture.

After the tour of the village, return to your hotel for dinner and night stay.

After a healthy breakfast at the hotel, you will travel to Paro by road. Upon completing your journey to Paro, you will check-in to your hotel.

Take some rest and then head out to visit your first attraction in the city. National Museum of Bhutan speaks of myths, legends and ancient glory. The museum is also known as Ta Dzong and is shaped like a conch shell. It preserves Bhutanese architectures, values, and lifestyles.

You can then take a tour of the market of Bhutan and enjoy your leisure time in the city. Post that, return to your hotel for the night stay.

After your breakfast at the hotel, you will be heading to the Tiger’s Nest. The place is one of the most beautiful places in Bhutan and has great religious significance. It serves as one of the prime tourist destinations and lives up to it by offering beautiful and splendid views of the surroundings.

Your next destination is the Rinpung Dzong. This place is a fine example of marvellous architecture. Also known as Paro Dzong the place has a very spiritual environment and is beautifully lit-up in the evening. The dzong has many illustrations about the life of Buddha, which is the highlight of the place.

Lastly, you will head to the Dungtse Lhakhang. The place was built in the early 15th century and it provides an in-depth knowledge of Buddhism. This three storey temple has each storey representing hell, earth and heaven respectively.

Post this tiring day you can go back to your hotel and catch up on some rest.

Follow your breakfast routine at the hotel and then head out to continue your city tour.

Your first destination for the day will be Kyichu Lhakhang. This place dates back to the 7th century. It is a beautiful monastery of great significance and is a perfect example of serenity. It is believed to be blessed by many Buddhist saints including Guru Rinpoche.

After the tour of this great monastery head to Chele La Pass, a mountainous landscape. It is located approximately 13,000 feet between the valley of Paro and Haa and is the highest motorable road pass in Bhutan. The highlight of the pass is the adorable view of the Himalayan Range.

Your last destination in Bhutan is Paro Chhu. The place reflects the colourful city in its crystal clear water. An experience in itself is walking along the shores of Paro Chhu. You will be in awe of the gentle breeze and cooing of birds.

Post this exciting day in Paro, head back to your hotel and pack your luggage for your departure the next day.

Traditional methods are used here, in producing paper. It manufactures the most authentic Bhutanese paper, which is known as Deh-sho. Having a look at the entire process of traditional paper making is an experience in itself.

Later on, you can visit the local market of the town and spend your leisure time shopping or trying out the local cuisines.

Post this tiring day, return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

After completing your breakfast at the hotel, you can continue your sightseeing tour for the day. Today you will visit the National Memorial Chorten. The Chorten is a Stupa, built in the year 1974. It was built in the honour of the third Druk Gyalpo and the highlights of this place are its golden bells and spires.

Your next visit is to the Trashi Chhoe Dzong. The place has been the seat of the Dharma Raja, who is the head of Bhutan’s civil government. The structure of this place is two storied with white washed walls and a further three storied tower on all four corner depicts triple-tired golden roofs.

The last destination is the National Folk Heritage Museum. Want to see a glimpse of the culture of Bhutan? Then this is the place to be at. A fun fact about the place is that the museum artefacts transform seasonally and every time you visit the place, you will get to see something new.

Today you will be completing your sightseeing tour in Wangdue after the breakfast routine at the hotel. You will begin your tour with the Temple of Sha Radap. The place is also known as the Rada Lhakhang and the temple gets its name from Sha Radap, the deity that is worshipped here. Locals often pay a visit to this temple and seek blessings.

Later on, you will visit the Phobjikha Valley. The valley is one of the few glacial valleys in the country and is distinctly shaped like a bowl. This is due to the glacier that existed before. For those with a keen interest in birds, this is the perfect place for you.

Lastly, you will head to the Rinchegang Village. A trip here is like heaven for photographers. Also, you can experience and know about the rural way of life in Bhutan here.

Begin your day with breakfast at the hotel and then restart your sightseeing tour. For today you will be visiting the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. The Chorten is a splendid architectural complex and has an artistic vision of the Bhutanese culture attached to it. The extensive rice fields that surround the temple also add up to the nice aura.

The next destination in the town is the Zangdo Pelri Temple. The temple is a magnificent place in Bhutan where you can find statues of Guru along with his eight manifestations. Here the walls are enclosed with several paintings that are taken from the life of Buddha. You must visit the place for its architecture.

Post your breakfast routine at the hotel, you can continue with the sightseeing tour. The first destination for today is the Kurjey Lhakhang. This temple complex is huge and very active. It is named after the body (kur) print (jey) of Guru Rinpoche. The body is preserved here in a cave inside the oldest of the three buildings that make up the temple complex.

Later on, you can visit the Tamshing Goemba. This Goemba was formally known as the Tamshing Lhendup Chholing. It was established in 1501 the unusual structure became an attraction point for tourists.

Your last destination for the day is the Konchogsum Lhakhang. The place is located 400m below Tamshing. Although the place is recently constructed and brightly painted, the building completely envelops the restored remains of the original temple. The mixture of modern art and ancient culture is the highlight of this place.

Your next destination is the Jampey Lhakhang. This temple was built in 659 by the then Tibetan King on the same day as Kyichu Lhakhang in Paro. Also, the temple was visited by Guru Rinpoche during his visit to Bumthang and hence holds lots of spiritual value to the locals.

Today you will take your final road trip to Paro, which is 8 hours 54 minutes (312.4 km) away from Bumthang. So make sure you have an early breakfast and leave for your journey.

Upon your arrival at the hotel, complete your check-in process and leave for your sightseeing tour. Your destination for today is the Chele La Pass. This pass is the highest motorable pass in all of Bhutan. It offers the view of the great Mt. Jomolhari and Jitchu Drake. With this, it also overlooks both the valleys of Paro and Haa.

The last destination for the day is the Drukgyel Dzong. Although the place is now in ruins, if you want to see the fascinating stone work of the past, you must visit this place. Also, on climbing to the top of the ruins you will get an extraordinary view of the valley around you.

After your early morning meal at the hotel, you will be heading to Wangdue today. The road trip will take around 1 hours 48 mins (69.3 kms).

The temple is also known as the Rada Lhakhang and houses the image of the guardian deity of the region, known as Sha Radap. You can then take a walk around the streets of the place and visit the local markets and enjoy your leisure time.

After a delicious breakfast at the hotel, you can continue your sightseeing tour in the city. The first place for today will be the Rinchegang Village. If you love photography then you are in for a treat. The view from this place is mesmerizing. It overlooks a small cluster of houses and has a backdrop of the mountains. The place is also well-known for the practice of stone carvings and there are many samples of stone masonry in this village.

After the tour of the village, you will head to the Wangduephodrang Dzong. It was built in 1638 and it is located on a wonderful ridge that overlooks the confluence of the rivers Dang Chhu and Punakha Chhu. Although it was burnt to the ground in 2012, it is still worth a visit.

Your last destination for the day is the Phobjikha Valley. It is one of the few glacial valleys in the country and is distinctly different from the others. It is shaped like a bowl due to the glacier that existed before and hence is flatter. It is said to be the perfect place for all nature-lovers, hikers and trekkers.

End your day by visiting the Namgay Artisanal Brewery. You must try the Bhutan Dark Ale and the Bhutan Red Rice Lager. The Bhutan Red Rice Lager is brewed from red rice and The Dark Ale is made from the roasted burnt grains.

Your next destination for the day is the Tiger’s Nest (Paro Taktsang). Paro Taktsang is said to have been ordained to tame a tiger demon. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche flew here on the back of a tigress and hence the name. The place is a 2 km hike to the monastery. You can enjoy the majestic mountain views and lush green valleys from the place. The highlight is the exciting tales of the ‘Tiger’s Nest’ you can learn there.

Finally, you will be making your day to the Zuri Dzong Fort. An ancient fortress built in the mid-fourteenth century; it has a five storey tall edifice. The structure is exemplary, which still stands today protected by double walls.

To reach the monastery you will have to cross a hefty iron bridge, which was once washed away in the flood of 1969.
