Laya Village
Laya Village in Bhutan is the home to the Layaps. One of the smallest settlements in the Last Himalayan Kingdom, this remote village at an elevation of 3,800m is also the highest town in the country.
Canopied by luscious alpine forests, adorned by pictorial farmlands, and enchanted by the mystique beauty of lofty mountains, this village is also a treasure trove of unique cultures.
Almost untouched by the hands of commercialisation, Laya can be reached through a 2-days’ trek from the town of Gasa that would cover almost 28km. Though the trek to this remote hamlet is rated as a medium trek, trekkers can expect muddy and slippery terrains while hiking. Laya Village is also an impressive destination for camping and hiking.
