Dewathang
A site of much historical importance to Bhutan, Dewathang is the site that witnessed the final battle between the Bhutanese and British army in 1884. During this battle, Jigme Namgyal; father of Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuk, led the Bhutanese force and gave a tough fight to the British soldiers.
Also known as ‘Deothan’, this site is located in Samdrup Jongkhar district of Bhutan at a height of 870m above the sea level. In addition to rich and diverse history, Dewathang is also known for its lush and pristine outlook, and significant number of avifauna species.
