Lunana Village
A magnificent window to witness how life thrives in the lap of the mighty Himalayas, Lunana Village is one of the remotest hamlets in Bhutan. Located in the Gasa district, this scenic village is set amidst some of the most picturesque protected areas in the Land of Thunder Dragons; Jigme Dorji National Park and Wangchuk Centennial Park are two such areas.
Home to most of the glaciers in Bhutan, Lunana Village is also a wonderful place to have a glimpse of the ancient nomadic cultures in the country. The nomads here mainly depend on agriculture and rearing livestock like yak and sheep. The region is said to be extremely fertile and is known for numerous specious of medicinal herbs. Lunana Village is also abundant in ‘Cordycep’, a kind of medicinal fungus that is commonly used to heal kidney disorders and increase male’s physical vigour.
