How to Reach Paro From Ahmedabad

How to Reach Paro from Ahmedabad by Air
Paro has no direct flight connectivity with the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. Hence, you may not be able to take a direct flight between these two destinations! However, if you are a wanderlust at heart, and looking for how to reach Paro from Ahmedabad by air, you can first fly to some of the noted Indian airports that have flight connectivity with Paro.
From these airports, you can book either a direct flight or connecting flight via Kathmandu (Nepal). Two of the official air carriers of Bhutan – Druk Air & Bhutan Airlines, have flights between these airports and Paro International Airport. These airports are:
Indira Gandhi International Airport (Delhi)
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport (Kolkata)
Bodhgaya Airport (Gaya)
Bagdogra Airport (Siliguri, West Bengal)

They can opt for international destinations like Singapore, Kathmandu (Nepal), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Bangkok (Thailand), and book direct flights to reach the scenic Paro Valley in Bhutan.
How to Reach Paro from Ahmedabad by Train
As there’s railway connectivity in Bhutan, you won’t be able to book a train ride from Ahmedabad to Paro. However, if you are decided about reaching Paro while enjoying a train ride from Ahmedabad, you should first take a train ride to West Bengal. Some of the closest railway stations to Paro are Kolkata, New Jalpaiguri, New Alipurduar, Siliguri, and Hasimara.
You can take a train journey to any of these railway stations, and upon reaching them, you should take a road journey across a town called Jaigaon in Alipurduar district in West Bengal. This town shares its boundaries with the Phuentsholing town of Bhutan. Once you make your entry in this Bhutanese town, you should be again driving along the Thimphu-Phuentsholing Highway to reach your final destination – Paro; the distance would be 143km (4 hours’ drive).
If not West Bengal, you can also take a train ride from Ahmedabad to Assam in order to reach Paro by train. In Assam, you should deboard the train either at Bongaigaon Railway Junction or Guwahati Railway Station. How to Reach Paro from Hyderabad by Road
If you are planning for a road trip from Hyderabad to Paro, Kolkata or the ‘City of Joy’ would be the ideal spot for you to begin with your trip. You can plan this trip by following this route map: Ahmedabad – Kota – Varanasi – Bodh Gaya – Bishnupur – Kolkata.
Once in Kolkata, you should start with the second leg of your road journey. Here, you can either opt for a direct bus ride (18 hours’ drive) to Thimphu followed by another drive from Thimphu to Paro (50km / 1 hours).
Else, you can embark on a road trip from Kolkata to Jaigaon town that lies on the Indo-Bhutan border. From Jaigaon, you can get an easy entry to Phuentsholing town, and continue driving along the Thimphu-Phuentsholing Highway to reach Paro. This portion of your road trip would comprise of a drive of 4 hours covering around 143km.
However, if you choose to fly or take a train ride to Assam, you can embark on a road trip to Paro from either Bongaigaon or Guwahati. If starting from Bongaigaon, you can enter Bhutan through Gelephu point which is around 50km (1 hours’ drive) away from Bongaigaon. Here onwards, you should traverse another 250km (8 hours’ drive) along the Wangdue-Tsirang Highway to reach Paro.
If travelling from Guwahati, you can enter Bhutan through Samdrup Jongkhar point, which is around 150km (3 hours’ drive) away from the city. From Samdrup Jongkhar, you should drive another 459km (10 hours’ drive) to reach Paro.
