Bhutan is a kingdom of rich culture and royal history. And on this trip, you will be visiting some of the most beautiful places in the city. Be it Phuentsholing, Thimphu, Wangdue/Punakha, Bumthang or Paro, each of these cities/towns have a plethora of tourist attractions to offer.
Over the next 10D9N, you will experience one of your best vacations, which will stay with you as a memory forever. So, all you have to do is, get your bags packed and take the first flight to this heavenly location.
Itinerary
Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be welcomed by our representative. Our representative will then accompany you on your road trip to Phuentsholing, which is 3 hours 30 minutes (142.7 km) away.
After you reach your hotel, you can take some rest and then immediately start your sightseeing tour. The first destination for the day is the Bhutan Gate. The gate is the only exit and entry gate between India and Bhutan and many tourists from around the world come here to click pictures at the gate. The gate is also an architectural beauty that will please you further.
After adoring the gate you can head to the Phuentsholing Market. The market offers a number of products to choose from, be it artefacts, footwear, clothing or even show pieces.
Post this, you can return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Start your day with a healthy breakfast at the hotel and then continue with your sightseeing tour. The first destination of the day will be the Zangto Pelri Lhakhang. This place is a religious hotspot and many locals visit this place to seek the blessings of the idols. Here you will find monk chanting hymns and prayer all throughout the day, you can even join them. On the ground floor, there is Guru Rinpoche’s replica and only the top floor you will find the main idol of Amitabha.
Your next destination is the Amo Chhu Crocodile Breeding Centre. The reason we will visit this place in the afternoon is so that you can watch the crocodiles being fed. This will give you an up close and personal experience at the breeding centre.
Later on, you will be visiting the Karbandi Monastery. The monastery is a scenic point that houses life-size idols of Rinpoche, Shakyamuni and Shabdrung Ngawang. The lush garden in the complex consists of 8 Tibetan-Buddhist Stupas and it is said that couples with infertility issues come here to be blessed with a child.
After this tiring day, head back to your hotel for the night stay.
Today you will be travelling to Thimphu, which is 3 hours 54 minutes (147.3 km) away from Phuentsholing. Have an early morning breakfast at the hotel and commence with the road trip immediately. Upon your arrival at the hotel, you can complete your check-in formalities and head out for the sightseeing tour. You will first visit the National Memorial Chorten. The Chorten is a Memorial Stupa, which is also known as the Thimphu Chorten. It was built in the honour of the third Druk Gyalpo, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck and is one of the quintessential landmarks of the city.
Your next destination in the city is the Trashi Chhoe Dzong. The Dzong is a fortress and is also a Buddhist monastery. The two-storey structure is of the white washed building and the three storied towers on all the four corners boast of golden roofs.
Post this tiring yet fun day, you can head back to your hotel for a good night’s sleep.
Have early morning breakfast, because it is time for yet another road trip to Wangdue. The distance you need to cover is 1 hour 52 minutes (70.2 km). Complete your check-in formalities as soon as you reach the hotel and then head out for the city tour.
Your first destination in the city is the Wangduephodrang Dzong. The Dzong, built in 1638 but it was destroyed in the fire of 2012. Now the Dzong is an Army Base and you can go there to view its Archery Ground where competitions are held.
Post this tour you can visit the Wangdue Market and spend your leisure time shopping. Later on, head back to your hotel for the overnight stay.
After early morning breakfast, you will leave for your road trip to Punakha, which is 2 hours 26 minutes (84.9 km) away. Once you have completed your check-in formalities at the hotel you can start on your sightseeing tour. The first destination on your list is the Samtengang Trek. The trek is suitable for amateurs and should take you an entire day to trek uphill. The trail is beautiful and the view from the top is even better, so do not miss out on this beautiful opportunity.
Once you finish the trek you must go back to your hotel and catch up on some rest.
On this day, you will continue your city tour after breakfast at the hotel. You will be visiting the Temple of Sha Radap. The temple is also known as the Rada Lhakhang. A strict piece of advice is to wear traditional clothes at the temple. The temple is a place of religious sentiments and many locals come here to pay their respects to the idols.
Your next visit will be to Rinchegang Village. The place is heaven for photographers as it has a beautiful backdrop. The place is now in ruins but it is still a much-visited place by history lovers. It is well known for the practice of stone carvings and hence architecture buffs might take a keen interest.
The last destination in the town is the Phobjikha Valley. The valley is shaped like a bowl because of the glacier that existed here before. This valley would be a suitable place for all nature lovers and hikers.
Post this tiring yet fun day, you can head back to your hotel for dinner and night stay.
Follow your breakfast routine at the hotel and then restart your sightseeing tour. The first destination for today is the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. This place is a Buddhist temple that was built to ward off all the evil spirits. The temple complex is an architectural marvel that is definitely something to look out for.
Your next destination is Mo Chhu. This is an extremely important river in this Himalayan nation and is a popular place to go kayaking or river rafting.
Finally, you will be visiting the Dochula Pass. The pass, with scenic views of valleys on both sides, also is the site of the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens. The Gangkar Puensum, Bhutan’s highest mountain peak can also be seen from this pass.
Later on, head back to your hotel for the overnight stay.
On day 6, you will be taking a road trip to Bumthang. Upon your arrival at the hotel, you can catch up on some rest and then start with sightseeing.
Your first destination will be the Chokhor Valley. The valley is known as the spiritual heartland of Bhutan. The valley overlooks many precious and ancient Buddhist sites. Tourists often are mesmerized by the scenic Trongsa Dzong that lies on the top of the steep ridge.
After the tour of this valley, visit the local areas of the town and spend your leisure time interacting with the locals.
Later on, head back to the hotel for dinner and night stay.
Today you will be continuing your stay in Bumthang and after breakfast at the hotel, you will head to complete your tour.
The first destination of the day is the Kurje Lhakhang. This place is a sacred site that consists of three temples, which are surrounded by 108 Chorten walls. The first temple of the three was constructed on the rock where Guru Rinpoche meditated.
Your next visit is to the Jakar. It is located near the foothill of the Chokhor Valley and is the principal trading centre of the region.
The last destination of the town is the Mebar Tso. It is also known as the Burning Lake and it takes around 40 minutes to reach. It is considered to be a sacred site for pilgrimage because Guru Rinpoche’s hidden treasures were found here.
Post this fun day, head back to your hotel and catch up on some sleep.
Start your day with an early morning breakfast, because today you are going to take an 8 hours 54 minutes (312.4 km) road trip to Paro.
Upon your arrival at the hotel, you can freshen up and then start with your sightseeing tour. The first destination in the city is the Tiger’s Nest (Paro Taktsang). The place is the most pictured photograph of Bhutan and you will find its trails all over the internet. It is located on a cliff and it is a Dzong that is praised for its stupendous architecture.
After this tiring day, head back to your hotel and have a good night’s sleep.
Today you will continue with your sightseeing tour of Paro, after breakfast at the hotel.
Your first visit is to the Rinpung Dzong. The Dzong is one of the finest examples of architecture in the country. It is also known as the Paro Dzong and the environment here is very spiritual and peaceful. As you hike to the top of the fortress, you will be allured by the spectacular view of nearby valleys.
Later on, you will visit the Dungtse Lhakhang. It was built in the early 15th century and the place provides you with in-depth knowledge of Buddhism. This three storey temple is divided into hell, earth and heaven respectively.
The last destination of the city is the National Museum of Bhutan. The National Museum of Bhutan boasts of art and tradition. It has six floors and each floor has a different tale to tell. The place is like a paradise for history lovers.
After this full-filling day, head back to your hotel and start packing for your departure the next day.
