Overview

Bhutan is the most sought after destinations to visit for a 10D9N vacation. There will never be a time in the country where you are bored or feel like heading back home.

The different tourist attractions, be it in Phuentsholing, Thimphu, Wangdue/Punakha or Paro, will always keep you busy and entertained. There are a plethora of attractions that you can visit, be it going for a hike or attaining nirvana at a Dzong or even visiting a fort.

This sounds like a place that you must visit once in your lifetime. So leave all the travel arrangements to us and all you have to do is get on a flight to Bhutan and enjoy your vacation.

Itinerary

Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be welcomed by our associate who will then accompany you on the 3 hours 30 minutes (142.7 km) road trip to Phuentsholing.

Once you reach your hotel, you can complete your check-in formalities and head out for the sightseeing. The first destination of the city is the Bhutan Gate. The gate is known for its architectural brilliance and many tourists come here to click pictures with the gate in the background. It is also the only gate for the exit and entry between Bhutan and India.

Post the tour of the gate, head to the market in the city, where you can spend some leisure time shopping for souvenirs to take back home.
Later on, head back to the hotel for dinner and night stay.

Have a healthy breakfast at the hotel and then continue with your sightseeing tour. Your first destination for the day is the Karbandi Monastery. The monastery houses life-size idols that are worshiped by the locals. Here, couples with infertility issues come to be blessed with a child, from all over the world. The lush garden on the complex houses 8 Tibetan-Buddhist Stupas and also from here you can enjoy the view of the Bengal Plains.

Your next destination is the Zangto Pelri Lhakhang. This is a religious hotspot that is filled with monks chanting prayers and hymns. Here on the ground floor, there is a Guru Rinpoche’s replica with 8 differently manifested life-size idols and paintings that depict the life of Buddha.

The final destination for the day is the Torsa River Side. Come here to catch the sunset and dip your legs in the river and just relax. You will feel away from all the daily life routine and feel at peace. Do look for migratory birds that fly over the skyline of the river.

Later on, return to your hotel for the overnight stay.

Today you will be travelling for 3 hours 54 minutes (147.3 km) via road, to Thimphu. So, have early breakfast at the hotel and commence on your journey.

After arriving at the hotel, complete your check-in formalities and then start with your city tour. The first destination on your list is the Trashi Chho Dzong. It is also known as Tashichho Dzong, which is a grand fort that serves as a venue for the country’s biggest annual festival, Tsechu. It is known for its white-red-gold combination of colours and tiered roofs.

You can then spend some leisure time at the Thimphu Market and shop for local artefacts from Thimphu.

Post this fun day, return to your hotel for the overnight stay.

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel and then continue with your city tour. The first destination of the day is the Tango Goemba. The place was originally built in the 15th century and then renovated in in 2016. The place is a Buddhist study centre and to reach the place you will have to trek uphill. Here you will also witness a crystal brought in from Tibet, which is used for meditation.

Your next visit is to the Changangkha Lhakhang. This is a popular Buddhist temple and is especially visited by parents to receive blessings for their new-born. Its interiors are full of murals that depict different stories.

The last destination in Thimphu is the Dechen Phodrang. The place was a Dzong earlier but was destroyed in a fire. It is now a state school, which teaches around 250 students. The highlight of the place is the main chapel, which is full of murals and paintings that date back around 800 years.

You can then return to your hotel to catch up on some rest.

Today you will be taking yet another 1 hour 52 minutes (70.2 km) road trip to Wangdue. So, have early breakfast at the hotel and commence with your journey.

The first destination you will visit in the city after your check-in process at the hotel is the Jigme Singye Wangchuk National Park. You will spend an entire day here amidst the natural beauty of the surrounding and the animals of the park. Here you can spot endangered animals, such as Red Panda, Snow Leopard, Black Bear, Blue Sheep, and Takin. The place attracts hundreds of tourists every year.

Post this thrilling day, head back to your hotel for a good night’s sleep.

Today you will be travelling to Punakha via road, which is 2 hours 26 minutes (84.9 km) away from Thimphu. Upon your arrival at the hotel, you can complete your check-in formalities and then start with your sightseeing tour.

Your first destination is a trek for the day. The Samtengang Trek is an easy trek that is suitable for all kinds of trekkers. The trail of this trek is its highlight point; it offers some of the best views of the town and is a must-visit trek for everyone visiting Bhutan.

After the trek, you must be tired, so best is to head back to the hotel to catch up on some rest.

After a delicious first meal of the day at the hotel, continue with your sightseeing tour. Today you will visit the Temple of Sha Radap first.

The temple is also known as Rada Lhakhang and it is built for the locals to pay their respects to the deity of the temple, Sha Radap. But a word of caution is that tourists are expected to dress respectably and modestly while visiting the temple.

Your next destination is the Adha and Rukha Villages. The villages are a perfect place for camping and you can even visit the homes of farmers here and enjoy the homestays. The locals are very welcoming and homely. They will help you attain some more is sight about the culture of the rural lands here in Bhutan.

Your last destination in the city is the Phobjikha Valley. This is a distinct valley because it is shaped like a bowl. This is because of an existing glacier that was here. The place is heaven for nature lovers and hikers. Also, a number of hiking and walking trails are set up here where one can encounter the most beautiful views of birds and landscapes.

After this tour, head back to the hotel for dinner and a good night’s sleep.

Begin your day with a healthy breakfast at the hotel and then you can continue with the sightseeing tour.

Your first destination for the day is the Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten. The Chorten is a Buddhist temple that was commissioned by the Queen Mother. It was built to ward off all the evil spirits in the kingdom and also to promote peace and harmony. Go there for its architectural beauty.

Post the tour of the temple, visit Chimi Lhakhang. This is a Buddhist monastery, which is believed to be the place where a Buddhist monk defeated a demon and trapped it inside a rock here. Here you will find phallus symbols strewn everywhere on the walls of the temple.

Your last destination is Mo Chhu. This river is considered to be a sacred river in Bhutan and is of utmost importance. Apart from its religious beliefs, the river is famous for river rafting and kayaking activities.

After this thrilling experience, head back to your hotel for the night stay.

Today you will be travelling to Paro after your breakfast routine at the hotel. Upon your arrival at the hotel in Paro, complete your check-in process, take some rest and then head out for the sightseeing tour.

The first destination of the day is the Chele La Pass. The pass is the only motorable pass in all of Bhutan; you can choose to reach the pass by foot or by driving to the highest point. From the top, you can enjoy the view of the incredible Mt. Jomolhari and Mount Jitchu Drake.

After the thrilling experience at the pass, visit the Paro Market and spend some time shopping for local souvenirs for your loved ones.

Post this tiring day, return to your hotel for a delicious dinner and overnight stay.

Today you will continue your sightseeing tour in Paro after breakfast at the hotel. The first destination on your list is the Tiger’s Nest (Paro Taktsang). This place is amongst the top Paro tourist attractions and legend says that Guru Rinpoche flew here on the back of a tigress and hence the name Tiger’s Nest. The guru then meditated here and hence the place holds religious importance. It is located on a cliff and the view from here is breathtaking.

Your next destination is the Namgay Artisanal Brewery. The brewery is famous amongst the locals and when you visit the place do try the Bhutan Dark Ale and the Bhutan Red Rice Lager. They are the most famous drinks in Bhutan.

The last visit for the day is to the Zuri Dzong Fort. It is one of Bhutan’s oldest dzong built in the mid-fourteenth century. It is a five storey structure still stands strong. It is protected by double walls and a bridge and is one of the best places to visit in Paro.

After this satisfying day, you can head back to your hotel for a good night’s sleep.

Start your day with a delicious meal at the hotel and be ready to explore the fun attraction in Paro. Your first destination for the day is the Rinpung Dzong Monastery. The place is the perfect example of marvellous Bhutanese architecture. It is built with precision one of its high points is that the structures here are interlocked firmly without the use of nails.

Your next destination is the Drukgyal Dzong Monastery. The place was once a fortress and a Buddhist monastery. But after the fire of 1950 it turned into a ruin. Although the ruins are also so beautiful that history lovers visit the place very often. This former fortress also provides a splendid view of the Chomolhari Mountains.

The last destination of Bhutan is the Tamchoe Monastery. This monastery is built between Paro and Thimphu and it dates back to the 15th century. It is perched atop a small hill and is built by the help of a small iron bridge. One can cross the iron bridge, which was once washed away in the flood of 1969.

Later on, head back to the hotel and start packing for your departure the next day.
