Yuksom- The Historic Town Enchanting Attractions
Yuksom is a mesmerizing historic town located in West Sikkim. It is a perfect destination for holidays. Its surroundings boast of gorgeous green forests and high hills making it appealing to the eyes. Located at an altitude of 5,840 ft, Yuksom is known as the gateway to Mt. Reach Yuksom By Air
The nearest airport is Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, West Bengal which is around 159 kilometers from Yuksom. It is around 6-7 hour drive. Yuksom is located 123 km from Gangtok and the most convenient way to reach Yuksom is to first come to Gangtok and then from there drive down to Yuksom.
The airport is well connected to some of the major cities of the country by regular flights. From the airport, you can hire a private taxi to reach Yuksom.
The good news is that Sikkim has now got its own airport- Pakyong Airport, which will directly connect it with the major cities of India once it’s fully operational. The airport is located in Pakyong village which is around 35 km from south of Gangtok. It is the first airport of Sikkim located at an altitude of 4,590 ft and is one of the highest altitude airports in India. Once it is operational you can easily reach Gangtok in less time.
Reach Yuksom By Train
The nearest railway station to Yuksom is the New Jalpaiguri in Siliguri, West Bengal. It is around 153 kilometers from Yuksom. Yuksom is located 123 km from Gangtok and the most convenient way to reach Yuksom is to first come to Gangtok and then from there drive down to Yuksom.
The railway station is well linked to the major cities of the country like Kolkatta and New Delhi. From the railway station, you can easily get a taxi or cab (takes around 6-7 hours) for Yuksom. State-run buses are also available.
Reach Yuksom By Road
Yuksom is easily accessible by road from the major cities of India and the places in Sikkim. It is around 45 km from Geyzing and 123 km from Gangtok. The most convenient way to reach Yuksom is to first come to Gangtok and then from there drive down to Yuksom.
You can hire a private taxi/cab or a shared one to reach Yuksom. State-run buses are also available.
