Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport/Railway Station, you will be greeted and driven to Kaziranga National Park, home of the One-Horned Rhinoceros. The trip is short, but it will help you see the rural part of Assam, which is very beautiful. Once you arrive at Kaziranga, you should freshen up at your hotel for the first day and take a stroll to get the feel of what the park has in store. Spend a night in the hotel to prepare for the next adventure.

A great way to start your day is to go for an early morning elephant safari to tour any of the many zones of the Kaziranga NP. Traveling on the back of an elephant, you will head for the mysterious forest, and the sight of One-Horned Rhinoceros and other animals like Hog Deer, Swamp Deer, Wild Buffalo, and the Elephant itself will amaze you. If you are lucky, you may be fortunate to see a tiger on the plains. The park is also of special interest to bird lovers, particularly the numerous water bodies where many species of birds nest. Return to the resort for a good breakfast. In the afternoon, prepare for an adventurous jeep safari, which provides a different approach to viewing most of the park’s vegetation and wildlife. Spend another night at Kaziranga after an exciting day of wildlife sightings and other activities in and around the resort.

After a delicious breakfast, it’s time to leave behind the serene beauty of Kaziranga and drive to Shillong – the ‘Scotland of the East’ because of its snow-clad hills and cool climate. On the way, there is a halt at Umium Lake – a huge, calm lake bordered by hills. The lake is azure blue and reasonably big, making it a good spot to make a small stop and take beautiful photos. Proceed with your drive to Shillong, and when you reach your destination, spend some time in your hotel. In the evening, you can wander the local markets or rest and relax in your hotel. Overnight stay at Shillong.

After breakfast, proceed to Cherrapunjee, one of the world’s wettest places. The drive is a feast for the eyes as it passes through valleys and hills veiled in mist. First, when you get to Cherrapunjee, visit the Nohkalikai Falls. It is one of the highest waterfalls in India, being 1,115 feet tall. Then, wander through the wooden darkness of the Mawsmai caves, which are unique for the limestone phenomenon. As you return to Shillong, do not fail to explore the Elephanta Falls and the Shillong Peak, where you will find stunning views of the expansive countryside. Return to Shillong for overnight accommodation.

Start the tour early in the morning with an early breakfast to visit Dawki, a small town in Meghalaya that is very close to the border between India and Bangladesh. Here, the highlight is the Umangot Rive, which usually has clear water, fully making the boats look like they are flying in the air. After being mesmerized by the river’s striking beauty, head to ‘Asia’s Cleanest Village’ – Mawlynnong. Here, you can visit a Living Root Bridge formed from intertwined tree roots or watch a large stone resting on a comparatively much smaller stone. Later, retire to Shillong again for further leisurely overnight accommodation.

Start your day with breakfast at the hotel and then visit the Don Bosco Museum to get acquainted with the history and culture of Northeast India. Next, visit Ward’s Lake, a boating and nice site for a leisurely walk through the gardens. The tour will be followed by a road journey to Guwahati – the largest city of Assam. Upon reaching Guwahati, check in to your hotel. You can take an optional Golden Sunset Cruise over the Brahmaputra River in the evening, a serene way to see the day out. Overnight stay at Guwahati.

On the last day of the tour, after breakfast, you will go to one of the most important religious places related to Shakti: Kamakhya Temple. Timing-wise, you can visit this temple within the stretch of 8 in the morning up to 1 in the afternoon and back again from 3 in the afternoon to the evening. Then, you will be driven back to Guwahati Airport / Railway station to travel further or back home, with an immensely memorable experience of your northeast tour.
