Itinerary
With your arrival in Sikkim’s capital Gangtok, start with a drive through the scenic trails and make it to a gorgeous hamlet called Nambu. The total driving for the day will be around 120 km and will take you around 5-6 hours. After arriving in the hamlet, check in into overnight stay tents and retire for the day.
On this day, the delight of the Himalayan Heritage trek will begin with a pleasant trek to Chongri. The trek will take you through scenic patches of evergreen forests, narrow passes and wonderful views of the Himalayan peaks around; overnight stay will be either in a camp or homestay.
With today’s trek, you will descend down to a gorgeous village called Topung. Located in the Gyaslshing region of Western Sikkim, this village will get you introduced with the rich cultural heritage and life around the Himalayas; overnight stay will be either in a camp or local homestay.
Starting with today’s trek, you will get a chance to witness the local life closely. Trekking ahead further, you will be ascending up the hill to reach Melli, a picturesque town located on the border of Sikkim and West Bengal. This town serves as a connecting route between Gangtok and Siliguri. It is also one such towns in the country that lies around two different states; overnight stay will be arranged in a local homestay or camps.
Today’s trek through the scenic meadows and trails will take you the Khechuperi village, which is around 147 km from Gangtok. The home to the mystique and sacred Khechuperi Lake, this village is one of the least explored and hidden villages in the entire of Sikkim. On arriving in the village, take a walk to the sacred lake, which is known to be a wish fulfilling lake; overnight stay will be arranged in a camp or homestay within the village.
Leaving the Khechuperi village, you will descending towards Yuksam today. The trek will further allow you some of the most amazing and captivating views of the Himalayan Ranges and the surroundings.
In the morning, get started with a pleasant and gradual trek to one of the most wonderful heritage destination called Pokhari Dara. Besides the charming ambience around the trails, this 5-6 hours trek will also offer you an insight of the rich heritage of the Sikkim Himalayas; overnight stay will be in a camp or a local homestay.
As you will start with the trek for the day, you will proceed towards another beautiful village of Sikkim known as Lapdang. The hike for the day will be a mild one and will take you through beautiful views of the mountains, peaks, meadows and scenic forests.
From Lapdang to Tashiding, it will take you around 4-5 hours. Tashiding, which is located on a hilltop, is one of the most beautiful villages in Sikkim and is known for the Tashiding Monastery. Built during the late 17th century, devotees throng this village to visit this pious monastery and to cleanse their souls.
Today will be the last of this Sikkim Himalayan Heritage trek. On this day, you will be dropped at the Bagdogra Airport or the New Jalpaiguri Railway Station.
