How To Reach Ravangla

Ravangla- The Treasure Trove Of Attractions

Located at an altitude of 7000 ft above sea level, Ravangla is a must-see tourist destination of South Sikkim. It is located between Gangtok and Pelling and is easily accessible from there and is well connected to other major town of Sikkim through state highway. It serves as a base point for the trek to Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary.

Reach Ravangla By Air

Ravangla can be easily reached by air by taking a flight to the nearest airport- Bagdogra in Siliguri, West Bengal. The airport is around 129 km away and it takes approximately 4-5 hours to reach from the airport. One can hire a private cab/taxi or can even opt for a shared taxi. The regular flights from the airport connect some of the major cities of India.

Ravangla is located 68 km from Gangtok and the most convenient way to reach Ravangla is to first come to Gangtok and then from there drive down to Ravangla. Gangtok is the nearest town of Sikkim from Bagdogra Airport in West Bengal, around 125 km.

The good news is that Sikkim has now got its own airport- Pakyong Airport, which will directly connect it with the major cities of India once it’s fully operational. The airport is located in Pakyong village which is around 35 km from south of Gangtok. It is the first airport of Sikkim located at an altitude of 4,590 ft and is one of the highest altitude airports in India. Once it is operational you can easily reach Gangtok in less time.

Reach Ravangla By Train

The nearest railway station from Ravangla is the New Jalpaiguri in Siliguri, West Bengal. It is around 122 kilometers from Ravangla. Ravangla is located 68 km from Gangtok and the most convenient way to reach Ravangla is to first come to Gangtok and then from there drive down to Ravangla. The railway station is well connected with the major cities like Kolkatta, Mumbai and New Delhi. From New Jalpaiguri, you can easily get a private taxi to Gangtok and then Ravangla.

Reach Ravangla By Road

A good network of roads connects Ravangla with the major cities of Sikkim and other destinations of northeast India. One can easily reach Ravangla from the neighbouring places by road. Ravangla is located 68 km from Gangtok and the most convenient way to reach Ravangla is to first come to Gangtok and then from there drive down to Ravangla. Rented taxis and state-run buses are easily available to reach Ravangla.
